For a natural and healthy smile, porcelain veneers from our Maple dental clinic make you look and feel great.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are placed over your natural tooth to change the shape, size, colour, position and/or length of your teeth. They look incredibly natural and are strong enough to last for years. Your teeth will not lose their colour nor will their glaze disappear. Veneers are one of the best options that dentistry and our Maple dentists have to offer when it comes to a true and complete smile makeover.
Porcelain veneers from our Maple dental clinic provide a variety of benefits suited for your specific needs:
- Correcting teeth with cracks, chips and gaps
- Improving appearance and provide resistance from future stains and yellowing
- Improving a gummy smile
- Rebuilding your smile from worn-out teeth.
Veneers in Maple - A short procedure for a long lasting smile
When it comes to veneers, planning is the most important part of your treatment. It is absolutely critical to know exactly what you want in your new smile.
Once your goals are established with our Maple dentist, photos of your teeth are taken. If you are treating more than one tooth, your new smile will be designed in wax models for both you and the dentist to inspect. At this stage, if you're satisfied, the process starts.
In most cases, your teeth will need to be shaped to produce the result you truly want. If necessary, your first treatment appointment will consist of shaping your tooth (or teeth) to allow for the veneers to fit better.
For the vast majority of patients, teeth that aren't shaped or are under-shaped will produce a bulky finished product, and re-treatment may be required. Generally speaking, the further away your teeth are from your goal in colour and alignment, the more shaping will be required.
Pre-treatment orthodontics or Invisalign can repair crowding and put your teeth in better position to avoid significant shaping. For your comfort and to provide the best foundation for your porcelain veneers, our Maple dental clinic's treatment plans will always involve the least amount of shaping possible.
Next, an impression will be taken of your shaped teeth at our Maple dental office for the lab to use to make your permanent teeth. Now, your teeth will be fitted with a temporary mold of your veneers.
You will be asked to wear your temporary teeth for a few days to see if any changes are necessary. Once you are happy, a mold will be taken of the temporary teeth that the lab will use as a guide to make your veneers.
Your teeth will be then fitted with permanent veneers and secured by a strong cement by our Maple dentist. Local anesthetic is often necessary during insertion to avoid discomfort.
Your last appointment is to measure the bite and remove any cement that may have been missed. Post treatment photos will also be taken of your new teeth to examine your progress.
Veneers from our Maple dental office have an average lifetime of 10-15 years due to the wear and tear of normal use. It is possible that you may need to replace some or all of your veneers once or more during your lifetime.
