A positive first experience at the dentist for your child is an absolute must so they look forward to coming back.

What age should I bring my child for their first dental visit?

Children should start seeing the dentist regularly by the age of three. By then most of their baby teeth will be in place.

Going to the dentist for the first time can be a fearful and stressful experience for a young one. By introducing your children to the dentist’s chair and office prior to their first appointment, they will not feel frightened by their surroundings.

So we encourage you to bring your children to visit as young as two so they can sit in the chair with you in order to familiarize them with the dentist office. They may even recognize the dentist if they have previously met them.

During your child’s first appointment

The dentist will give your child a fun ride in the dentist chair while examining their teeth and gums. The dentist will also explain proper cleaning techniques and take photos of your child’s teeth. After the dentist is done your child will receive their own toothbrush and get a sticker for being brave and co-operative.

Dental health is extremely important to overall health, so providing a friendly and gentle atmosphere is what U Shine Dental ensures.
